The track “Dawn’s Highway” from No. 7 of the 10″ collector’s series is a collaboration between the two Puerto Rican’s Jonny Cruz & Jojo Lati and Italy’s Simone Montomoli aka Simon Wish. Simon originates from Tuscany, but has lived in Miami for several years now. He is an inherent part of the Sleaze Tech posse around Maurizio Ruggiero, Daniele Campanga and Paolo Driver. Joel Latimer and Jonny Cruz have been friends since their childhood days, they both moved to Miami a few years ago and produce house music together, with a large catalogue of releases under different aliases spanning a variety of genres. The track “Dawn’s Highway” features aside from the production aspect a really funky and sexy vocal performed by Mr. Cruz, who just moved to Berlin this summer. For Jojo Lati, audio is part of his whole life. As a professional audio engineer he dedicates his life to manipulating sound or anything else that can be listened to. Their vinyl debut “Dawn’s Highway” perfectly illustrates the biographical culture clash – here, reduced percussive Tech Funk in the style of Marco Carola meets nasty vocals sounding like the old Chicago Trax while the sexy-elastic bass line makes the influences of the Florida metropolis abundantly clear…More popular over here, on the other hand, is Eric Estornel aka Maetrik. With his numerous releases for renowned labels from the likes of Treibstoff from Cologne, Dumb Unit and Steve Bug’s Audiomatique platform, the Texan who is now living in Valencia has proven to be one of the most reliable protagonists at the junction of straight House and Techno since the year 2000. “Snorkel” lives mainly from its level of tension that is consequently kept throughout the track: smoothly aspirated vocals provide just the right dash of Soul for a hypnotic strong work horse of a track that also repeatedly takes the pressure from the boiler by using noisy breaks. Electric Deluxe is proud to announce the release of Comedy of Menace by Terence Fixmer, as the first artist album on the label since its launch in late 2008. With his distinct music style and personality, Terence caught the attention of label owner Speedy J at a very early stage of the label. His first EP on Electric Deluxe ‘Machine’ (with Speedy J remix) was released in the beginning of 2009, followed by ‘Electric City’ (with Function & Speedy J remixes) in 2010. ‘Comedy of Menace’ is Terence fourth Album. He already released two solo albums on DJ Hell’s Gigolo, the seminal “Muscle Machine”single-handedly spearheading a new style, “Techno Body Music”. This was a unique combination of modern Techno and EBM of the founding fathers from Nitzer Ebb (Whom Terence still has the Fixmermcarthy project with) and Front 242. His third album, “Fiction Fiction” was released on Terence Fixmer’s own imprint ‘Planete Rouge’ in 2009 with a more deep ambience, almost cinematic, palpable emotion and hypnotic rhythms. “Fiction Fiction” already showed the evolution in Terence Fixmer’s sound. While focussing on EBM exclusively with his Fixmermcarthy project, while shifting his solo productions and performances towards his unique interpretation of Techno today. A scene Terence is no stranger to – with working for Attack records, founded by his friend Emmanuel Top, and releases on Music Man, Datapunk, and Novamute he helped developing this genre since the early nineties. With ‘Comedy Of Menace’ Terence Fixmer created a true techno album, with an instantly recognizable pure sound, a deep and dark atmosphere throughout. The Album is in many ways hypnotizing and mental, yet keeps the energy and a effectiveness for the dancefloor. Terence explains: “I wanted that people can feel a soul, a story, and the sound of every track to open up the imagination of the listener, creating images in their minds… Its an art and a passion, my heart is bumping for electronic sounds. I love when the music is really coming from the heart of the machine, when the sound is pure and raw”. Comedy Of Menace can be attributed to english cineast Harold Pinter. ‘Comedy of Menace’ suggests that although they are funny, they are also frightening or menacing in a vague and undefined way. Even as they laugh, the audience are unsettled, ill at ease and uncomfortable.” Besides the Album release in September, the EP ‘Comedy Of Menace pt1.’ will be released with a Planetary Assault System mix. Remixes of Masuki’s Vix on Chicago label Prosthetic Pressings, Traversable Wormhole on Chris Liebing’s CLR and Echologist aka Brendon Moeller will appear in the coming months. On Top, his EP on Tiga’s Turbo will hit this late summer.
