Band member Benjamin Curtis recently said of the upcoming single that ”’Heart Is Strange’, from the start, was clearly it’s own animal. It was a song we took on tour with us for most of 2009, changing it’s shape over and over again. Finally, influenced by a mind-bending night out we had dancing and listening to music after a show in Barcelona, it finally found it’s final (and best) form in early 2010. We did this shorter edit of the song after the album was finished, and probably for the first time in rock and roll history, I have to admit that I prefer the edit.”

Even Though You‘re With Another Girl‘ is the amazing single to be taken from Trentemøller‘s stunning new album ‘Into The Great Wide Yonder’. After the huge reaction to the beautiful longplayer, which mixes classic Trentemøller production mastery with more of an analogue, song based, indie-feel, it’s time to carry on with this intriguing set of remixes. Side by side comes a hot record that features remixes by Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Pantha Du Prince. The Kollektive‘ s half of the record slaps a heavy dose of deep, dark funk into the mix, with this ingenious lo-slung version. Discodeine are back. After 3 acclaimed ep’s, numerous remix proposals turned down, a few months spent on a butch basement working on their album, Pilooski and Pentile delivers a perfect summer anthem called Singular, featuring the infamous Matias Aguayo on vocals. It’s a Fine Line (aka Ivan Smagghe and Tim Paris) provides one of their fantastic “train fantome” remixes while Institube wonderkid Das Glow turns the track into an underage drive by shooting at Eurodisney. Pilooski provides the cherry on top with an exoticore-tropical edit of Falkenberg (another gem from the forthcoming album) that will please you, steel drums massives. The prize for strangest, most musically captivating release of the week goes to October. Otherwise known as Caravan boss Julian Smith, October’s “That Placid Track” defies categorisation, as it shifts relentlessly between disco, techno and dubstep and is just one of those tracks that gets better with every listen. Whilst the constant cowbell and flourishes of strings are grounded in disco, the scattergun editing and half step stutter sound like Ramadanman at his most sonically intriguing. Caravan score a coup by enlisting Ewan Pearson to remix the track. Straightening out the kinks, Pearson makes the track a more viable entity for the dancefloor, though he’s smart enough to retain that satisfying half step crunch.
