Having impressed the likes of Jacques Renault and Social Disco Club with their debut release “Star Wash”, Stuttgart trio Space Ranger make a swift return to the Love Monk imprint for more excursions into the lower echelons of cosmic disco. The title track sees a straight kick complemented with real subtlety by additional percussive perks and key stabs as a heavily filtered snatch of obscure sampledelica ascends and straightens out to signal the onset of the main cosmic groove. Rare Wiri Records honcho Rayko is on hand to remix “Superstrings”, slowing down the pace and upping the psychedelic feel with hypnotic results. On the flip, Space Ranger opt for an up tempo space funk boogie approach on “Shave Me, I’m Famous” which combines a snappy beat with taut Chic esque bass lines and intermittent filtered drops. Modern Italo icon Ajello opts to replace the funk feel with trademark arpeggiated movements to great effect.
